Randall Blair is a filmmaker and an Associate Professor of film and video in the School of Communication at American University (Washington, DC). He is also the Program Director of the graduate program Producing Film and Video. At American University, he teaches courses in film production, directing, producing and scriptwriting.
Prior to 1993, Mr. Blair had successful careers as a professional photographer, television programmer and the owner/manager of a group of commercial radio stations. Since 1993, he has created an impressive body of work as a filmmaker. He has created award-winning documentaries, short dramatic films and educational/corporate videos. These films have been shown on PBS stations and on television networks in Germany, the Czech Republic, Hungary and other countries. His films have been screened in film festivals and film markets including Berlin, Sundance, San Francisco, Aspen, New York Underground, Long Island, Palm Beach, Independent Feature Film, Wine Country and Angelciti. Mr. Blair’s awards include the Washington Peer Awards for Best Director and Best Scriptwriter, the Pinnacle Award for Excellence in Media Education, two CINE Golden Eagles, four Tellys, an ITVA Bronze Reel, two Silver International Cindys, and four Silver Medals from Worldfest Houston.
